Mainly a Restaurant placeAbout Round K by Sol:
Narrow, offbeat cafe with a vintage ambiance providing latte art, house-roasted coffee & light fare.
I’ve been wanting to try their chicken sandwich. But when we went, they didn’t have anymore for that day so we ordered the shrimp sandwich. They initially forgot this order and we were waiting for it after we finished everything else - the owner eventually noticed and asked us what was wrong and we told him that we were still waiting for the shrimp sandwich. Honestly, he replied they were starting on it now and apologized for the wait. 5/5 for honesty! I feel like other restaurants would have made a big deal or lied and said it’ll be out in a minute. To make up for the wait, the owner, who is very kind when you talk to him btw, added extra shrimp and avocado to our order. A nice gesture! The shrimp sandwich itself was delicious! Perfectly fried shrimp with kimchi ranch and paired well with the avocado and arugula. The honey garlic chips that came with it were also a favorite for us. In addition, we ordered the KBBQ party toast. When it came out, we were amazed by the vibrant colors and the overall presentation of it. It looked beautiful! Everything about it was perfect including the taste of the spicy balsamic paired with the bacon and pickled slaw. For a drink, I got the Sweet corn latte, mainly because it was made with oat milk and coconut cream- perfect for all the lactose intolerant peeps! The first sips were pretty good, you get a lot of sweet corn taste and it even comes topped with a bit of corn for visuals. Then after that, it becomes underwhelming and loses the sweet corn taste. It was great to try though. I’d probably order the Flat Purple next time. Overall, a good experience - especially if you’re seated in the back where it’s a little cozier and much more quiet/private. Food is delicious, owner is kind, and a good spot to catch up with friends.
Service bit off , only one person helps. And kitchen close early even when we managed to book a table. And food are way too expensive as what we got, they taste just like normal Korean pup drinking food, but charge like upscale restaurants, not what expected dinning experience in Chinatown. Overall very disappointing. Check the menu before you sit down!
I absolutely love their new pocha style dining! It was so fun and cozy, and the vibes were just immaculate! I love everything. We order, especially mackerel noodles
Simple, yet diverse menu leaves you with options on what kind of meal you want! I have to go back to try the Truffle Toast, they unfortunately ran out while I was there. Ended up with a simple plate of greens, scrambled eggs (perfect texture), avocado, sourdough, and a generous portion of smoked salmon. Meal was straightforward and delicious, I enjoyed it in their back room that features mood lighting and extremely comfy chairs. The bathroom. They have one of those high end heated toilet seats with an adjustable bidet. 10/10 bathroom experience.
How on earth would this place think this small glass of sweet corn latte is worth $11 (before tax and tips) and people would go back and get it again??? The taste was good indeed but definitely doesn’t justify this ridiculously expensive price and unfriendly, inattentive and inflexible staff. I asked for no ice for the latte because it was too cold outside but the waitress said they can’t make it with no ice. So I asked for light ice, but she was still very reluctant and impatient about it and said it won’t taste the same, I said it’s totally fine as long as they can make it light ice. She agreed to my request but still gave me a glass of fully iced latte- almost all of the glass was ice and only a little bit of latte. Just because of the inflexibility to adjust the ice level makes this place even more ridiculous with this kind of insane price - I’ve never encountered any coffee shop being unable to adjust ice level and none of the great coffee shops I’ve been would charge this much for their delicious specialty coffee. This place made me feel angry about my dumb decision to have paid for this much for such a small latte, and I didn’t enjoy the latte at all because the unfriendly staff made me complain the whole time to my friend and I left the store feeling more pissed off and wanting to post this review to warn people not to go to this place for coffee! I’d never go back again! We also couldn’t drink the coffee inside without paying for tips because it was either seating with service or taking to go. The tables were very small and crowded.
Food is so delicious and authentic! Pocha vibe brings us to Korea with warm oden and noodle soup. And their soju cocktails and collection are so perfect! My fav spot in New York.
I started with the Mujigae, a chilled coconut water enhanced with a creamy topping, in Ube and Matcha flavors. Both were refreshingly different and beautifully presented with its rich, vibrant taste. The Shrimp Sandwich was another highlight, featuring crispy fried shrimp with a kimchi ranch dressing, spicy balsamic, and fresh veggies on a soft brioche bun, enhanced with avocado. I also had the Truffle Toast. The Kimchi Fried Rice, amped up with pork belly and a sunny-side-up egg, was a bold and satisfying choice. Round K By Sol not only offers great food but also a cozy, inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for both casual dining and special occasions.
Finally had the chance to visit this spot, and I’m so glad we did. Stopped by for a quick bite, and the food and drinks didn’t disappoint—everything was delicious. The service was top-notch. We even got to meet the owner, who was really friendly. The patio was a nice touch, and both the place and the bathroom were spotless. Plus, they have heated toilet seat! Definitely planning to return soon.
