Restaurant 1877
Mainly a Restaurant placeAbout Restaurant 1877:
Full-course menus with regional fare are served in this old-timey eatery decorated with antiques.
Dropped in after a lovely stop on top of the scenic overlook. Yummy little bites to refortify and rest before continuing onto explore historic Bergen. Friendly staff can help you decide on some snacks. Thank you 1877, and I’ll see you in a years time!
Lovely meal for my husband and I at 1877, our last dinner during our 4 day stay at Bergen. The food was refined and elegant. The wine recommendations were spot on. The decor was a nice mix of old and new. And it wasn't noisy or crowded. I especially liked the Gourgere with cave cheese from Hitra. My husbands favourite was the white asparagus with a small serving of fish soup on the side. The bread they served was really good, they told us that they have a name for the sour dough starter they've kept going since the start of the restaurant. Really nice little story which you will find out if you visit. Service was great and prompt. Worth a visit.
A simple WOW! We made a reservation at 1877 at short notice and opted for the 3-course surprise menu. By choosing this menu, the chefs have the opportunity to serve their guests menus they have put together themselves. We opted for the vegetarian version with fish! All the courses were delicious and, in our opinion, definitely worthy of a Michelin star. The combinations were WOW and every single component tasted fantastic. The wine list surprised with a large selection of worldwide wine specialties. The 1877 is a very good recommendation when you are in Bergen (Norway). And maybe we'll see a shining star in a frame at the entrance when we're in Bergen in 2025?
One of my favorite places in Bergen. Staff is super friendly and recommends well. They offer a three course meal but you can order a la carte too, though the delicious, seasonal menu offers are better. Great selection of wines. Beautiful place in a historical building and furnished with local art. I was very pleased. Congratulations to the chef who cooked the perfect pasta al dente for us, I’m picky 😉
We were super excited about having dinner at 1877 after reading so many great reviews. Something must have changed in the past few months because this was not the tasting experience we were expecting. The highlight of our meal was our drinks, bread, and olives at the start and the panna cotta dessert at the end. Service was also good, friendly and energetic. Presentation was impressive. The ingredients did seem fresh and the flavor combinations were interesting. However, the starters and entrees were a bit bland and served at room temperature (at best) bordering on cold. There were promising descriptions on the menu that might have been a bit better if served at a higher temperature with more seasoning and flavor. We've been in Norway for 8 days and every other meal we've had was better than this. Overall, it was an expensive meal at around NOK 1500 per person, and we will not return.
We had new concept sharing menu. Good quality food but I personally think the taste of food was plain. I love their dessert (panna cotta) with Perfect wines 🫶🏽 Excellent service 👍🏽
We had a stunning meal here for my Wife's birthday. Every course was incredible with each dish being crafted to a very high quality. Service was excellent and the restaurant being very pleasant. Well worth a visit if u fancy something special and don't mind paying.... but where is in Norway 😉
Greatest food experience in Bergen - no discussion!!! The menu, the flavours, the service, the wine package designated to each dish, just wow, the best atmosphere you can imagine, still being quite chill and not noisy or any fuzz with dancing staff. This is a 6 out of 5 stars!
