Fuglen Coffee Roasters

Friendly staff, cozy place and good coffee. My friend had a double espresso and it was not bad, i had Tanzanian chocolate and it was okay, lacked a bit of flavour though. We had the cinnamon bun and it was good and a lil bit dry.

I've been to Fuglen twice in my life, first time a few years ago in Universitetsgata and this time in Gamlebyen. I remember from last time that I didn't like the coffee there, and unfortunately I didn't like the coffee this time either. Maybe it's just the Norwegian roasting style, but the coffee (double shot latte & double shot cappuccino, my friend and I tasted each other's orders) was incredibly weak. It's ok to have a lighter roast as long as you can actually taste the coffee, which in this case, we almost couldn't taste anything except the oat milk. It was bland and tasteless. The machine they use is a La Marzocco, I think, so the machine is not the problem. Is it the beans? The roast? The extraction? The barista? My preference? I don't know, but for me, you should be able to taste a double espresso in any latte, no matter the roast. I have not tried the plain black coffee, nor tasted the drinks or food so I can't comment on that. The venue had a very cool vibe inside, and the area and outside of the building was super cozy and charming! Warm, a little retro. So if you like this style of coffee, I recommend this place. Unfortunately, it was so noisy inside due to lack of soundproofing that we left, but I saw from another Google review that they are aware of the problem so hopefully it will get better:)

I have to say it again. The water here is norway do makes the coffee taste different. The coffee do feels cleaner. Great coffee, great place to chill in this neighborhood.

Unique atmosphere and music that takes you out of time, excellent food and good coffee ☕️.

Visited during my stay. First time the coffee was excellent as expected from such a place. Second time I visited on a Sunday the coffee was average and was just thrown in a glass without care - hence dropping 1 star. Coffees around 55 NOK and pastries 50 NOK.

Wildly exceptional coffee, with passionate and friendly staff. Unique and excellent location, too. Get a batch brew or cappuccino .. and definitely a cinnamon roll. Update: Glad this can survived in my luggage.. it would have been a travesty not to be able to taste this special concoction!

I loved the atmosphere of this branch more than its most famous one. The place was spacious, interior design was nice, liked the fact there are large plants. Also, there is fine coffee and yum kanelboller. Nice for having a chat with your friend or studying, working remotely.
