We stumbled upon this place while walking around Bergen, having just arrived in the city. It was completely unexpected, but what a pleasant surprise! The service was excellent—a Spanish girl took the time to explain the menu in detail and gave us spot-on suggestions. We had a delicious fish soup and a fish cake that was absolutely spectacular. I highly recommend this place!
Good food, BUT….. So many other options within the city where you will be treated with a lot less indifference, with equal to or better meal quality and taste. The service here is non-existent, even when the space had very few patrons. The atmosphere is very dark, the decor is much more utilitarian than depicted on the website, and the entire area is very, very loud due to poor acoustics. After our food was delivered not one person came by to check on us or ask about drink refills. When our bill was delivered without us being checked on beforehand, we left feeling as they were pushing us out the door. So many other options, and we are sad we chose this place.
Go here! such a hidden gem. twin restaurant to Pingvinen upstairs, with a more intimate atmosphere. great choice of Norwegian dishes. the halibut was to die for! portion sizes were generous and very reasonable prices for Bergen. service was swift, friendly and informed. would heartily recommend!
This is a superb restaurant in which we had a fabulous meal. It has a wonderfully relaxed feel, all the staff are friendly and professional and the food is amazing. My family all agreed it is one of the best meals we have had. A great way to start our Norwegian holiday. Thank you.
Incredible food! Very friendly service. The deer tartar was unbelievable. Reindeer steak was Incredible as well.
Come here for some very traditional Norwegian cuisine. So cute and cozy. The service is fantastic and the food was to die for.
We were the first guests to arrive this beautiful evening in May. The polite waiter showed us our table and gave us the menus. Lot of interesting causes. We chose the foccasia bread with garlic dip, the "fiskegrateng," Coca-Cola Zero, and the baby goat and a glas of beaujolais wine. The bread was crisp and had been heated. Together with the garlic dip, it made a nice starter. The wine was slightly chilled and a good choice. Our expectations for the manis grew promotional with the time. The goat was tender and succulent, with a crisp rim, on a bed of Jerusalem artichoke puree, and with a small amount of the most delightful sauce. The "fiskegrateng" was firm and delicious. The potatoes on both dishes were tasty and boiled to perfection. Ower all a very pleasant meal.
The fish soup was very tasty, but if you are very hungry it might not be enough. However, the prices are quite good for Bergen, especially the drinks have a fair price. The atmosphere is nice and cozy.
